Winter Again

Flying creatures, unfrozen
clutter and dance at the feeders.
Deer huddle in snowhills
only head and ears silhouetted
against stark ice-blue.
Picnic tables smothered against white
and a scarlet bit
of cardinal on a barren twig.

Lovely. I love the first two lines and the closing detail about the cardinal.

I just know you are utterly excited for Winter=--How happy are you right now?

You seem very peaceful too!
I'm glad!

Stunning photo! (Now THERE's contrast!) A fitting complement to the poem, and vice-versa. Cheers.

what a splendid contrast between color and the white winter, between motion and stillness. lovely language. elegant yet sparse to fit the theme. rolls on the tongue with ease.
