Glitter in the Air

If you missed Pink's performance of "Glitter in the Air" at the Grammy's - the one where she's mostly naked, hanging in the air in a swath of material, singing upside down and dripping wet - well, you missed it.
It made me buy her CD and I decided I really like the lyrics of the song - something probably no one heard during that performance - even me, the emo music junkie, the lyric freak - since I was standing in front of the TV with my mouth gaping open.

Have you ever fed a lover with just your hands?
Closed your eyes and trusted, just trusted.
Have you ever thrown a fistful of glitter in the air?
Have you ever looked fear in the face
and said, "I just don't care?"
It's only half past the point of no return,
the tip of the iceberg,
the sun before the burn,
the thunder before the lightning,
and the breath before the phrase.
Have you ever felt this way?
Have you ever hated yourself for staring at the phone?
Your whole life waiting on the ring to prove you're not alone?
Have you ever been touched so gently you had to cry?
Have you ever invited a stranger to come inside?
Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight?
Have you ever held your breath and asked yourself
will it ever get better than tonight?

I was also just mesmerized by her performance. Later in the week, I saw PINK on Oprah talking about it. I was just as awed by her confidence.

Beautiful words. I used to feel that way .. many times.. .

Now I feel more and more complete..

You know that whole Let Go and Let God thing..

Just peace and love and shut out fear.. if you have to wait for someone to call; just not practicing self-love and self-care.. and honestly the other person is just not worth it..

And you can just say a loving prayer for all good things to that person and let that person go..

No fear of being alone.. because you are never really alone.

And life has so many spectacular things going on.. that to live in LACK of not feeling LOVE by one other person.. naw.. not worth it ..

Beautiful song.

I love the one she does called Mr. President.. from a few years back. My grown children made me listen to it.

I LOVE Pink! Great lyrics to most of her songs, and a controlled and very musical voice. That was THE moment from the Grammy's this year. She has no fear, that's for sure! Thanks for posting the lyrics to that song - you are right, I wasn't listening to them on the live broadcast, as I couldn't believe what she was doing! Beautiful words!
