Tired Tuesday

For teachers the first day of school is chaotic and exciting. It's such an important day for students. Hopefully we do not convey the exhaustion we often feel the first week of school. The first day for teachers is filled with a pep rally of speeches, tons of data and challenges presented for the new year.
Today I began the new year at my elementary school AND at the middle school across the way (my new assignment). I have to say I enjoyed seeing a lot of my fifth graders from last year - but I was not much help navigating the maze of hallways or opening lockers (right-left-right).
My body's tired from running up and down stairs and between buildings and my brain is drained of anything clever to regale you with today - so I'll just say - give me a day or two to adjust to the summer being over (I know all you 12 month workers have your tiny violins out right now - but c'mon - have a heart!)

First off, I LOVE your new coexist pic, very cool.

I wondered if you were still stuck with the double teaching thing. Sounds exhausting! You'll lose 10lbs the first week... thighs of steel by the end of the year. ;)

Get some rest!

Transitions are hard, and stuffing your brain with new data is exhausting. You have my sympathy.

I run back and forth between buildings all day long, so I feel for you! If I had to manuver stairs, too, that would put me over the edge!

It is a big adjustment to get back into the routine. Good luck!

All I can say is thank God there are people like you that actually want and enjoy being teachers...my kids sure had good ones in elementary. When they start in middle school and on up, parents take a more of a back seat and we just didn't know the teachers as well.

I am sure it is hard starting again for you, but I will say this...you more than put in your 12 months if you are like the teachers around here. All the school related stuff you do and stuff you do at home...I am sure you more than make up for being home in the summer.

It's nice to see the other perspective, something many students of today fail to recognize while in their self absorbed world of me me me.

I love that new Coexist green pic..
seriously, can I pay you to paint me something? Please?? I beg of you..
well, I don't want to pressure you..but I would pay for your art because it's full of meaning and wonder!

Always,
me

What would we do without our teachers? You deserver to have the summers off. I'm not sure why but I have a lot of clients for teachers. Most of them grade papers while I do their haircolor.

I hope your first week back is going very well.

My daughter Jessica is a pre-med student with a year of undergrad left. Her heart's not in it but she's smart enough to be a doctor so she thinks she should be. I asked her what she'd do if not medicine ( and no regard for $$$). She said she'd teach. Her gift is communication and kids light her up. I pray that she follows her heart.
