September 11

it snowed paper
it rained blood and tears
it ushered in a united pain
then we heard screaming
and our songs
we saw flags
and an altered skyline
we inhaled dust and fear
we touched a future
veiled in smoke and war
we loved our freedom and comfort
we saw it collapse before
our eyes

Oh this is good, Diane. It has a deceptive simplicity, and yet it captures so much. Did you write this recently or closer to the event?

If you have a second, you might want to check out this poem at Quaker Dave's. If you haven't visited his blog before, I think you would like it.

Oh Diane- this is really good, it truly touches me.

Thank you - thank you.

While not at Ground Zero, I was in Manhattan that day.

I feel the pain in that well written poem.

Thanks for sharing it.

These words touch my very soul and take me back to that day, I was no where near, except in prayer and horror.

Beautifully felt and writtten!
